Welcome + Worship + Witness

Hey Diddle Diddle!

You are warmly welcome to join us between 15.00 and 17.00 this coming Saturday, 12 July, for a drinks reception in the Priory Tower. The Long Preston Heritage Group, including children from Long Preston School (pictured), will be hosting a reception to celebrate the completion of their heritage project, Monks and Beams, which explores links between the village of Long Preston, Bolton Priory and Skipton Castle. These links include the last Prior of Bolton, Prior Moone, who came from Long Preston and whose dispute with a local farmer, surnamed Hey, is immortalised in the nursery rhyme Hey Diddle Diddle. An exhibition about the project will be on display in the Tower (which was begun by Prior Moone, but not completed before the Priory was dissolved), as well as details of a new book, The Monk’s Story, which is one of the fruits of the project. There is no charge for this event, and you are welcome to drop in at any time in the afternoon after 15.00.
