Service of Thanksgiving for the Lambs

Bolton Priory celebrated a successful lambing season in Wharfedale on Sunday
19 April with a special Service of Thanksgiving for the Lambs. A
congregation ranging in age from eight to eighty gathered in church for
hymns – including a slightly adapted version of “All things bright and
beautiful” in which lambs had an honorary mention – and readings, before
moving to the west tower for a Prayer of Thanksgiving made special by the
presence of two very new-born lambs (less than twenty-four hours old) and
their mother. It was a wonderful way to mark the lambing season. Our thanks
are due to Andy and Lucy Carr, and Matt Hey for transporting the animals to
the Priory.
