Concert for Boyle and Petyt School

Alexandra Lowe returns to The Priory on Saturday 8th August 2015 together with special guest Thomas Isherwood (Baritone) and Joy Becker (Violinist) Hollie-Ann Bangham (Mezzo Soprano) accompanied by pianist Simon Passmore to perform a collection of favourite songs covering opera and musical theatre. This evening is in support of The Boyle and Petyt Foundation for the New School Building Project.

ALEXANDRA LOWE is currently in her final year of her Bachelor of Music Degree at the Royal Northern College of Music where she successfully achieved a scholarship. She has won numerous awards including the Alexander Young Song Prize (2014), The Onken Song Prize (2013) Kathleen Ferrier Young Singers Award (2012) and The Elsie Thurston Song Prize (2012) – making her one of the most highly achieving students in her intake. It is not surprising that Alexandra has been identified as one of their most promising singers.

On the 9 June 2015 – at the Royal Northern College of Music – Alexandra won the Joyce & Michael Kennedy Award for the singing of Strauss and £6,000 towards her funding for her forthcoming Masters Degree in September. The adjudicating panel of judges was chaired by the celebrated Baritone, Sir Thomas Allen, and their decision to make Alexandra the winner was unanimous.

Her recent stage roles this year include Helena in Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Sylvaine in The Merry Widow by Lehar both at the RNCM. Other roles include Mabel (Pirates of Penzance), Angelina (Trial by Jury), Gianetta (The Gondoliers) and Sylvaine (The Merry Widow) all as part of the International Gilbert and Sullivan Festivals at Buxton Opera House and Harrogate Royal Hall.

Alexandra has now released her First Album with the sales going to help fund her Masters Degree and the winning of the Strauss competition will help her on her way!
