A concert of choral and instrumental music with chamber choir Cantores Salicium and Camerata Salicium
The programme includes William Byrd’s haunting ‘Ave verum corpus’, Purcell’s ‘Thou knowest, Lord, the Secrets of our Hearts’ and
contemplative music by Tallis, Anerio, Handel and Bach. In the second half the mood changes, with a sonata by Telemann played by
talented young local bassoonist, Ben Buckner, with cello and keyboard accompaniment. The choir is then joined by members of
Camerata Salicium in Haydn’s joyous ‘Little Organ Mass’, with its original accompaniment of two violins, cello and chamber organ. The
concert ends with singers and players joining together for J.S. Bach’s ‘Jesu joy of man’s desiring’, sung in its original German.
